Grateful Dead Shirt : Vintage Original ( Genuine / Authentic ) : 1986 : Chinese New Year '86 - " Year Of The Tiger ! " - G.D. Fire-Breathing Dragons ! & Tiger Designs !! : February 9, 1986 ( 2/9/1986 ) : Henry J. Kaiser Convention Center - Oakland, California ( CA ) : (c) 1986 Grateful Dead (r) Prod. ( Grateful Dead Productions, Inc. ( GDP, Inc. ) ) : Large ( L ) : Very-Rare !!!!The ' Official ' Grateful Dead Productions " Year Of The Tiger !! " - G.D. Dragons !!! Shirt for the 1986 Chinese New Year run of Oakland Shows in February '86 ( 2/8/1986 & 2/9/1986 ) ... with 2/9/86 being the Chinese New Year " Year Of The Tiger ! " Celebration & Parade !!!
Offered here my fellow Dead Fans ... is the Absolutely-Amazing !!! Grateful Dead Chinese New Year " Year Of The Tiger " Dragons ! Shirt made for the 1986 Chinese New Years Show run in Oakland - at the Kaiser ! ... on February 8th & 9th, 1986 !! And possibly ... well, arguably naturally - but, at least in my opinion -- this may be " The " Grateful Dead Chinese New Year Shirt of all-time ... from a standpoint of Brilliant Design ! - this one, is quite hard to top. An Incredible image of Dragons ! so appropriately entwined on the front-side ... with even some " Fire-Breathing ! " going on below ! Wow. But then again, it is the Grateful Dead we are talking about here on a Chinese New Year run in Oaktown !!! And if you've ever been ... then, you too well know. As far as live Rock 'n Roll goes, you will be hard pressed to see a more thoughtful, clever, exciting & powerful ! display - than what the Grateful Dead would put on in Oakland ... during Drums ! > Space !! Undoubtedly some of the coolest live concert performances ( Dead, or non-Dead ! ) that I have ever seen ... as things can get Ultra-Intense ! Probably a very-good word for this Classic & basically Historic G.D. Shirt too ... " Intense " !!! One of the very-best of all-time ... and even in Size Large ! Today, well over 30 years later ... and nearly impossible to find. And, now check this out - as maybe you remember yourself ?!? This " Chinese New Year " G.D. run took place at the Kaiser on 2/8/86 & 2/9/86 ... so, this was just roughly 5-Weeks after the 12/30 & 12/31 " New Years Eve " run at the Oakland Coliseum ! And .. .. .. for the real ' catch ' - the " Mardi Gras " run took place at the Kaiser on 2/11/86, 2/12/86 & 2/14/86 - with 2/11/86 being the Official " Mardi Gras " Celebration Show --- and 2/14 being " Valentine's Day " ! So, my G.D. point here being, if you lived in the Bay Area - or, made the trek to the Bay Area to make it happen from places elsewhere - you could see the Band play a " New Years Eve " Show ! - a " Chinese New Year " Show ! - a " Mardi Gras " Show ! - and even a " Valentine's Day " Show too ! .... all within close to 6 weeks-time in Good Ol' Oakland !!!!! Almost too much to fathom, fellow Dead Fans - you know ? Wow. So, with this Shirt representing the 2/8/86 & 2/9/86 Chinese New Year " Year Of The Tiger " run... the ' special-treat ' here ( other than a Smoker ! of a G.D. Show - especially Set II ! ) was an ' Opening Act ' by the " Gung Hay Fat Choy ! " Chinese Symphony Orchestra !!!!! And oh my, how I bet the Boys - and especially Phil ! loved that appearance. Pretty Awesome, indeed ... And as for Good 'Ol " 1980's !!! " Grateful Dead - Dang ... as this 1st Set just kept picking-up ! >>> Following a Jack Straw - T.L.E.O. - a Hot ! C.C. Rider ensued - followed by a Loser, with Garcia grinding that outro-solo ! Check out this one ! Then, Women Are Smarter > Deal !!! Closer. Very-nice ... And as for Set II ? Time for some Rock 'n Roll ! - well, you know - the brand of Rock 'n Roll that Only ! the Grateful Dead can do ! >>> Mighty Quinn > Samson opener ! ( yes, this was ! a Sunday-Show too !! ), then a burner of a He's Gone > Smokestack Lightning ! > into ... the sweetest of Sweet ! ' Comes A Time ' !!! - from there ... Drums > Wow !!!! > Space ! > Other One !!!!! ( serious-stuff here... ) > Around & Around > Good Lovin' And for an Encore ... Baby Blue ! A little Dylan to ice the cake, means for a good night ... and really, a close to musically-perfect one. Wow. Did this Band ever even tire in the Mid-'80's ?!! Doesn't sound like it anywhere close to here ... in 1986 !!!!! The close to final-days of this beautiful ' Mid-'80's ' period & era for the Band. And, one of the Coolest ! G.D. Shirts of all-time - as the ultimate memento. And even so-cool in fact ... that GDP even decided to sell this Shirt on the following East Coast 1986 leg of the Spring Tour !! Which, speaks way-highly of this Shirt being arguably the best of the best in " Chinese New Years " Grateful Dead Shirts ... the now over 30-Years Old - and more awesome than ever -- '86 " Year Of The Tiger ! " ... with Fire Breathing Dragons !!! Now that my fellow Fans ... is Grateful Dead Rock & Roll!!! Wow ..... Enjoy !!!!!!!
